Colombo, January 24 (newsin.asia): In July 2017 the Sri Lankan government renewed, for another ten years, the Acquisition and Cross-Servicing Agreement (ACSA) with the United States Department of Defense. ACSA allows the exchange of supply and services, training of staff and humanitarian aid in disaster situations between the two countries.

News: There’re still over 16 refugee camps in Jaffna: Anthony Jesudasan

Even though the war ended almost ten years ago, there are still over 16 refugee camps in Jaffna, said National Fisheries Solidarity Movement (NAFSO) Coordinator Anthony Jesudasan. Around 200 families have been sheltered in some camps, but they only have two lavatories, he added.

The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has informed the Westminster Magistrates Courts of the Sri Lanka Foreign Ministry’s objections in the case filed against Brigadier Priyanka Fernando in the UK court. The Foreign Ministry has pointed out that Brigadier Fernando is no longer a resident of the UK and that during his tour of “duty in the UK, a diplomatic agent, and thus entitled to the immunities and the privileges extended to a diplomat under the Vienna Convention”.

Brigadier Priyanka Fernando has not yet been informed on the summons issued by the Westminster Magistrate’s Court in the United Kingdom (UK), says Sri Lanka Army.
