Civilians killed in Puthukkudiyiruppu in Air-force bombings

Jaffna Member of Parliament Mr.Selvarajah Kajendren, strongly condemned the areal bombings on civilians' areas in Puthukkudiyiruppu in Mullaitivu district and called on the International community to take necessary steps to pressure the Sri Lankan Government to stop its indiscriminate areal bombing on highly populated Tamil areas.

Three Kfir bombers reported to have dropped several bombs on the Nesan-Kudiyiruppu where the Internally Displaced People's settlements are  in Puthukkudiyiruppu around 9.20 am on 15 June 2008. In the reckless attack 2 civilians were killed and 11 others including a pregnant mother were injured.  Four homes of the IDP's were fully destroyed and four houses were badly damaged. Mu/Puthukkudiyiruppu Central College buildings were also partly destroyed.

The persons killed in the attacks were identified as:

1.    V. Nakathampirasa (20) from Punnai Neeraavi, Visuvamadu
2.    Iyathurai Sundaralingam, (47), father of three 

The wounded were:

1.    R. Thangarasa, (42), father of six from Neasankudiyiruppu,
2.    P. Asokan, (41), father of five, from Vea'naavil,
3.    I. Pathmanathan, (71), father of nine, from Vea'naavil,
4.    S. Jeyamohini, (31), a pregnant and mother of one, from Neasankudiyiruppu,
5.    Kalaiththevan, (36), from ward no. 1 in Puthukkudiyiruppu,
6.    Ladchumanan, (58), from Katchilaimadu, Oddusuddan,
7.    S. Thines, (18), from ward no. 2 in Puthukkudiyiruppu,
8.    Chandran, (51), from ward no 10, Puthukkudiyiruppu
9.    K. Parpuhalan, (21), from ward no. 5, Puthukkudiyiruppu
10.  V.Vinothan, (25), from Ira'naippaalai, Puthukkudiyiruppu
11.  Banujan from Visuvamadu.

The wounded were admitted to the Puthukkudiyiruppu hospital.

MP Kajendren said in the Air Force kfir jets bombing on Kumarapuram Village in Kilinochchi's suburb on Saturday, 14th June 2008, one mother was injured and 10 homes were damaged.
