Campaigning is the most visible way that TIC represents its constituents which is YOU. TIC ensures that its constituents are heard and represented by campaigning on a range of human rights, peace, development and community issues.
Human Rights Alert
Urgent actions are a way of protesting a violent action or preventing imminent violence such as a murder or military action. TIC uses Human Rights Alerts and appeals to focus urgent attention on people facing immediate and life-threatening human rights violations. We highlight challenges faced by organizations and human rights defenders who are threatened with violence as a result of their work for justice
Advocacy Campaigns
TIC’s advocacy strategy is to engage in intensive research, grassroots-driven advocacy campaigns. Our main approach in the 80s and 90s was to try to publicise what we saw as injustices for the Tamil speaking people of Sri Lanka through a series of booklets, pamphlets, letters, meetings, etc. Go to TIC publications for more details.
Solidarity and Collective Actions
TIC believes that the struggle for human rights requires diverse organizations and actors to work together in partnership to achieve shared goals. We are committed to solidarity and collective action for human rights. We also reach out beyond the boundaries of our own partnership to connect with a broad range of social justice networks working in human rights and democracy activism.
