Nobel Laureate Dr. Cardozo to visit North

Nobel Laureate, Dr. Barbara Lopes Cardozo will visit Sri Lanka to conduct research about post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) of war victims in the North. Dr. Cardozo is a founding member of Doctors Without Borders–Holland (MSF) and served in several countries. She won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999. She has treated victims of natural disasters and man-made disasters.

‘Govt committed to protecting peoples rights’

Leader of the House Minister Lakshman Kiriella says the current government is committed to protecting the rights of citizens of all communities. Raising a question Chief Opposition Whip JVP leader Parliamentarian Anura Kumara Dissanayake charged the government of failing to compensate the public whose houses were damaged in the Gintota unrest recently. Minister Kiriella responding said regardless of race and religion the government is devoted to ensuring rights for all.
